Best Medellin Salsa Music Radio Stations

Two radio stations are dedicated to sharing the sounds of Salsa music in Medellin. They are two different musical proposals with the flavor necessary to make the city a space that values percussion, wind instruments, claves, cow bells, maracas, triangles and more. Here we will talk a little about both:

Latina Stereo (100.9 FM)

Latina Stereo is the station of Classical Salsa in Medellin. Its content and varied programming revolve around the rhythms that make up and surround Salsa: Son, Guaguanco, Guaracha, Bomba, Mambo, Jazz, Charanga, being one of the main means of conservation and dissemination of the Salsa culture in the city. Its origins go back to October 1985, the time of the Classical Salsa boom in the world, with legendary groups such as La Fania All Stars, who were very popular in Medellin with their themes referring to the neighborhoods and the realities and customs of the popular classes of Latin America. Hence the popularity of this Salsa radio station, and its permanence in a medium as competitive as radio.

Latina Stereo was born in the municipality of Envigado and today is located in the El Poblado neighborhood of Medellin, where all day they broadcast interesting, cultural programs, such as Notimusica, Afronautas, Sentimiento Latino, Dos con el mismo sabor (Two with the same flavor), Debate de soneros (Soneros debate), Soloists de la Sonora Matancera (Soloists of the Sonora Matancera) or Salsa al día (which roughly means current Salsa, up to date Salsa or Salsa today). Latina Stereo's repertoire includes the transmission of traditional Salsa songs, news about the rhythm, and the introduction of new Salsa artists.
