Great Dance Atmosphere and Skilled Instructors

I took almost 40 hours of private lessons here (mix of salsa on 1 and modern bachata) when I visited Colombia and loved the atmosphere at this school. In total, I had private classes with four different male instructors and two different female instructors. The instructors were all great dancers and knew how to convey proper technique. The group lessons at night had great energy and the school offered three levels (beginner, intermediate, advance) to accommodate all skill levels. Pros: - compared to the US, private lessons are extremely cheap per hour - there are over a dozen instructors so there is a ton of availability to meet your schedule - male instructors can lead and follow - all instructors were highly skilled dancers - relaxed, judgement-free atmosphere - instructors catered agenda towards what you wanted to learn/practice and were flexible - only place I could find in Medellin at night where people dance salsa on 1 (/LA style) Cons: -group classes can get crowded/the room can get hot on popular nights, but this is expected for a dance venue - in the shared salon for private classes (multiple private classes going on at the same time), sometimes there is a different style of music playing than what you are practicing. If you are just working on breaking down patterns, it's not a big deal (you can count out loud/in your head). The teachers are all pretty flexible if you want to practice moves at live speed to specific music, you just may have to wait five minutes for a song or two to pass. Overall, I would come back. The instructors and staff were all nice people and made the learning experience enjoyable. I will actually miss them :) - Yosef B., July, 2018
